First, we use digital scanning technology to take images of the tooth and prepare a virtual restoration that is then sent to a milling station. The milling station creates your restoration from a solid block of ceramic material.
Your crown is designed to match your natural teeth’s shape, size, and color. It is then bonded to the tooth. The entire process takes a couple hours from start to finish.
To prepare your tooth, your dentist will remove the outer layer (enamel) of your tooth. This is done to make room for the crown to fit. Next, your dentist will insert a digital impression camera into your mouth. This camera will take photos of your teeth and send them to a computer. The computer will use this information to design your crown.
The CEREC machine includes a camera that takes pictures of your tooth. A special computer program then creates a 3D model of your tooth. The design is sent to the milling station where the porcelain is shaped to fit your tooth. The CEREC machine can also create temporary crowns while you wait for your permanent crown to be created.
Our CEREC same-day crowns are customized to fit your smile. When designing your porcelain veneer, our dentist will take detailed impressions of your smile and create your custom crown in our in-office milling station. CEREC same-day crowns are made from a single block of porcelain, so the color of the porcelain will closely match the color of your natural teeth.
Once the CEREC dentist has completed the crown, it will be sent to the dental lab to be finished. The dental lab will polish the veneer, which will be sent back to the dental office. The dentist will permanently cement the veneer in place, and then you’re all set!
During your procedure, your dentist will first remove your decayed or damaged tooth structure. Then, they’ll take impressions of your smile. Your dentist will send these impressions to our dental lab where your crown will be custom-crafted out of porcelain.
CEREC same-day dental crowns are made right in our office. The process only takes one visit, so you won’t have to make additional trips to our office.
CEREC same-day crowns also eliminate the need for temporary dental crowns, which have to be removed before your final restoration set is placed. CEREC same-day dental crowns also offer superior fit and comfort. Your restoration will be custom-made using 3D imaging.
