Digital impressions

A digital impression system captures images of the teeth and gums. These images are sent to a lab, where they will be used to create your dental restoration.

At 4S Dental, we use a 3MTM True Definition Scanner, which takes only 13 seconds to scan your teeth and gums. Once your scan is complete, the images are sent to a lab where your new restoration will be fabricated.

3D scans

With 3D scans, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Kerby are able to provide a fully digital approach to dentistry. This means no messy impressions, no gagging impressions, and less waste.

With 3D scans, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Kerby are able to provide:

Digital x-rays

A fully digital approach to dentistry starts with digital x-rays. These are the most impressive diagnostic images, and they produce approximately 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays. Plus, they are safer for the environment because they do not require any chemicals to develop.

Intraoral cameras

Intraoral cameras are small, pen-sized cameras that capture images of the inside of your mouth. They allow you to have a better understanding of the health of your smile, and the dentist can show you any problem areas, or explain procedures to you.

Electronic medical records

Electronic medical records (EMRs) are becoming more popular among dental patients, and practices. They save time, improve efficiency, and allow for more comprehensive documentation than paper records. Patients appreciate the ability to fill out forms online before they arrive for their appointment. In addition, they can view their records at any time.

CEREC same day crowns

CEREC same day crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers are a type of restoration that can be completed in just one visit to our Plano dental office. Unlike traditional crowns, CEREC restorations have a CAD/CAM design, eliminating the need for messy impressions. CEREC restorations also utilize advanced dental technology, so you never have to be without your teeth.

iTero intraoral scanners

iTero intraoral scanners are digital impression systems that eliminate the need for traditional impressions. This benefits both you and your dentist!

Impressions can be uncomfortable and can feel strange in the mouth. iTero intraoral scanners are more comfortable and accurate, creating a digital impression instantly. Impressions are taken using a handheld scanning wand, which is guided over the teeth to capture data.

The impression data is then sent to the lab, where a restoration is fabricated. The dentist will then place a temporary restoration, which is worn until the permanent restoration is ready.

Same day dental implants

The same day dental implants process is ideal for patients who want to repair severely damaged teeth. Traditional dental implants require multiple appointments, but same day implants can be placed in just one day.
